The Aditya Prakash Ensemble is a bold and dynamic force in contemporary global music, known for seamlessly blending the intricate traditions of South Indian Karnatik music with the improvisational spirit of jazz, and the raw energy of folk, rock, and classical styles. Formed in 2010 by vocalist and composer Aditya Prakash, the Ensemble grew out of informal collaborations among students in UCLA’s acclaimed Ethnomusicology program.

This cross-cultural experimentation was deeply influenced by Prakash’s experience touring with

sitar legend Ravi Shankar, whose genre-defying approach left a lasting impression. The Ensemble continues this spirit of innovation, crafting a sound that is rich in tradition yet fiercely modern — a space where musical borders dissolve and dialogue thrives.

The group’s work has garnered widespread critical acclaim. Their album Diaspora Kid was featured in the Top 15 Albums on the Transglobal World Music Chart, and the Ensemble has received praise from Songlines, KCRW, and other leading tastemakers. In 2021, they were featured in a highly celebrated NPR Tiny Desk Concert, introducing their music to a global audience.
