Kausar Munir

One of India’s most celebrated contemporary poets and lyricists, Kausar Munir, leads a morning of spoken word, reflection, and conversation, with writing that is by turns tender, incisive, and deeply human, juxtaposed with readings from classic works by RADA-trained actress Shanaya Rafaat.

Kausar Munir is a distinguished Indian lyricist, poet, and dialogue writer whose work bridges cinema and contemporary poetry. She is widely known for her lyrics in Hindi films such as Tashan (“Falak Tak”) , Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dear Zindagi, Secret Superstar, and 83, earning critical acclaim for their emotional intelligence and lyrical subtlety.

Alongside her film work, Munir is an accomplished poet whose writing explores memory, identity, love, and the inner lives of women in modern India. Her poetry is noted for its clarity of voice, quiet intensity, and literary refinement, and she is a regular presence at literary festivals and spoken-word platforms across the country. A graduate in English literature from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, Munir brings a rare blend of literary craft and popular resonance to everything she writes, making her one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Indian writing.
