Taufiq Qureshi Travels in Time

Taufiq Qureshi is India's ace percussionist, acclaimed composer, and a true game-changer in world music. He is the pioneer of the African djembe in the context of Indian rhythms, having developed a distinct technique that transposes the traditional language of the tabla onto this non-Indian instrument, creating an entirely new rhythmic vocabulary. It is to Taufiq's credit that the djembe now has a serious presence on the Indian concert circuit. His approach has inspired a whole new generation of percussionists in the country.
